Introduction

Hello! Welcome to my blog about effects of climate change on agriculture and vice versa. I hope you will find this website useful and informative on this topic.

Purpose:
The primary purpose of this blog/website is to provide insight about the current and projected effects of climate change on agriculture, mainly at a global scale. Although there have been vast improvements in technology (genetically modified crops, improved irrigation systems, improved crop variety), agriculture is a field that is directly affected by changes in climate, and even the slighted increase in average temperatures will lead to reduced yields and crop productivity. In essence, as the unimpeded growth of greenhouse gas emissions continues to persist, the elevated global temperature in combination with the accelerated growth of the human population, will end up threatening food security worldwide. Thus, this website will implore possible solutions and adaptations that can be made both at a global and local scale.

In addition, this website will also explore the contribution that agriculture has on global warming, primarily the impact that livestock and global monoculture production (maize and soy) has on the global warming.  Possible solutions to mitigate the impacts that agriculture has on the environment will be explored.

  1. well organized website. I especially like the background picture. I think it would be helpful if the references were under each page so that the visitors to your blog could figure out what sources you used to explain each section. I also think that it would be interesting to see some examples of improved technologies such as genetically modified crops as an alternative solution to negative impacts of global warming on crops and how we could address this issue to policy makers.

  2. The author gives a wide variety of evidence to introduce their topic. The organization of the blog is done quite well. As others noted, clearer citations/references are needed. An original graphic is needed as well.

  3. Hey Joe -
Nice website. I like how you explained how agriculture is contributing to global warming as well as being affected by it. Is the graphic above your original graphic? If so, be sure to say so! If not, you could attempt to quantify those effects. Great work!

  4. Overall - nicely done in terms of pictures and information. As others have said, make sure to somehow indicate what your original figure/schematic is (e.g. add, in text, 'original figure - Choe' or 'modified from ?? by Choe', and make sure to fill out the text on some of the other pages.
