Summary
As one may have guessed, the current dilemma between climate change and agriculture is a very complex issue. Currently, there is an overwhelming amount of evidence that supports that if developed countries continue to focus on livestock production, land-use changes, and fossil fuel consumption, then current crop development will not be able to sustain and meet the current global agricultural demand. Mitigating the agricultural sector's contribution to the current amount of greenhouse gas emissions that is present in the atmosphere is crucial for the sustainability for the planet, and innovative methods may need to be supplemented with an awareness in the public to make smarter food choices, and for farmers to implement more environmentally-friendly and sustainable food strategies to feed the population. On an individual scale, incorporating animal-welfare practices, and relying less on meat, eggs, and dairy products may serve as a vital role to slow down the effects of climate change.
